Navigating the Catchpoint Portal

The Catchpoint portal navigation is designed to help you move easily between monitoring workflows, analysis, and configuration. The navigation groups related views and actions together so it’s clear where to start, how areas connect, and how to move from high‑level visibility into deeper investigation.

Portal Navigation Overview

The Catchpoint portal interface is organized into three primary areas:

  • Top Navigation (Charm Bar) – Global actions and tools available from anywhere in the portal
  • Left‑Hand Navigation (Main Menu) – Primary entry point into monitoring workflows and product areas
  • Content Area – Displays the page or workflow you select

Here we will focus on the Top Navigation and Left‑Hand Navigation, and how they work together to support common monitoring workflows.

Left‑Hand Navigation: Detailed Guide

The left‑hand navigation is the primary way to access monitoring workflows in the Catchpoint portal. Each item is organized to group related views, analysis tools, and management actions together, making it easier to move through a workflow without switching between unrelated areas.

Many navigation items use flyout menus to provide direct access to commonly used pages.

Dashboards

The Dashboards navigation item provides quick access to visual overviews of performance and health across your environment.

Flyout menu options include:

  • All Dashboards – Opens the full list of available dashboards.
  • Favorite Dashboards – Displays dashboards you’ve marked as favorites for quick access.

Alerts

The Alerts navigation groups alerting by monitoring area, making it easier to navigate directly to the alerts most relevant to the workflow you’re working in.

Flyout menu options include:

  • Synthetic
  • Real User
  • Internet Sonar
  • Node

Each option opens the alert log scoped to that monitoring type, helping you move directly into the relevant alert view without switching context within the Alerts experience.

Synthetic

The Synthetic navigation item groups all synthetic monitoring workflows together. This flyout uses a three‑column layout to separate analytics, configuration, and supporting capabilities.

Flyout columns include:

  • Analytics – Overview and analytical views such as explorers, smartboards, and records related to synthetic tests.
  • Control Center – Test creation, configuration, and library management for synthetic monitoring.
  • Settings – Supporting configuration areas specific to synthetic monitoring, such as credentials, zones, indexes, or supporting resources.

Real User

The Real User navigation item groups Real User Monitoring (RUM) workflows and separates web and mobile analytics while keeping configuration close at hand.

Flyout columns include:

  • Web Analytics – Overview and analytical views such as explorers, smartboards, and records related to real user activity on web applications.
  • Mobile Analytics – Overview and analytical views such as explorers, smartboards, and records related to real user activity on mobile applications.
  • Control Center – Configuration and management of Real User applications, settings, and related resources.

Endpoint

The Endpoint navigation item groups monitoring and management related to endpoint devices and employee experience.

Flyout menu options include:

  • Analytics – Analytical views, dashboards, and records related to endpoint data.
  • Control Center – Configuration and management of endpoints, tests, and related resources.

Nodes

The Nodes navigation item provides access to views and management related to monitoring nodes.

From here, you can:

  • View node health and status
  • Explore node‑related data and groupings
  • Manage node configuration where applicable

Contacts

The Contacts navigation item provides access to contact and contact group configuration.

Settings

The Settings navigation item contains global configuration that applies across the portal.

  • Insights
  • Integrations

Top Navigation (Charm Bar)

The top navigation bar—also known as the Charm Bar—provides access to global actions and tools that are available throughout the portal.

Compact Top Navigation

The top navigation can collapse into a more compact layout, reducing its footprint while keeping global actions visible and accessible. This allows you to dedicate more screen space to your primary workspace while still having quick access to commonly used global tools.

The top navigation is always available and does not disappear; it simply adjusts to use space more efficiently.
