Welcome to the Eclipse release! This update brings exciting new features and enhancements to our platform, designed to improve your experience and productivity. We hope these new capabilities help you captivate your customers and eclipse your competition.

Access Sonar using Points

Internet Sonar provides simple, trustworthy internet health information at a glance, helping you stay ahead of incidents that impact customer experience and answer the question “is it me or something else?”

This release enables you to use points to buy Sonar services, getting immediate access without an upfront cost or updating your existing contract. This lets you see your internet stack dependencies clearly and solve issues faster, all using the points you have already purchased. The ability to activate Sonar services using points will be made available as a phased rollout over the next two weeks.

RUM Updates

Mobile RUM - Preview

Monitoring the performance of mobile applications presents several challenges, including the diversity of devices, varying network conditions, and the multitude of user interactions. These factors can make it difficult to consistently pinpoint issues and optimize user experience. Real User Monitoring (RUM) is a valuable tool that addresses these challenges by capturing data from actual user sessions in real time. This provides a holistic view of application performance, highlighting opportunities for improvement and ensuring that the mobile experience meets user expectations.

The new Mobile RUM feature is currently in preview, offering an opportunity to gain early access and provide feedback.

RUM Usage Reporting

Real User Monitoring (RUM) usage is tracked in terms of the number of page views captured, so it is important to understand how many views you’ve used relative to how many you’ve purchased. To show this, we’ve added a RUM usage chart to the account activity page, which tracks the number of views captured across all applications. This will help you understand overall usage and traffic to your applications, as well as provide insight into whether you are under or over-utilizing your RUM license.

Automatic JSP Script Updates

Catchpoint continually adds new functionality and metrics to RUM. This evolution often requires updates to the client-side JavaScript to ensure optimal performance and accurate data collection. Now, you can automatically receive updates to the RUM JavaScript code, eliminating the need to manually update your site to implement the latest version. To implement this new capability, you can deploy the updated RUM script to your site through the RUM app properties page in Control Center.

Deprecation of TTI Metric

We are ending support for the Time to Interactive (TTI) metric in our RUM solution as of May 14, 2025. This change is based on industry trends and recommendations, as TTI is best measured synthetically and has been found to be less reliable for real user monitoring. Instead, we recommend using the Interaction to Next Paint (INP) metric, which offers a more accurate representation of user experience by measuring the time from user interaction to the next paint. For more information, please refer to https://web.dev/articles/tti.

Benchmarks - Preview

Introducing Catchpoint Benchmarks – an innovative new capability designed to measure the performance of the most popular Content Delivery Network (CDN) products globally.

Benchmarks runs comprehensive CDN tests from a vast population of devices located around the world, providing invaluable insights to optimize your digital delivery strategy. The results of these tests are provided as an anonymized public dataset so you can understand how your CDN’s performance stacks up to the competition and ensure your CDN investments deliver ROI.

Benchmarks can also be run for your own website utilizing Catchpoint Real User Monitoring (RUM). This lets you track CDN performance specifically for your own traffic.

Benchmarks is currently in preview, letting you gain early access and provide feedback.

Playwright and Puppeteer Updates

Chrome 133 and Edge 132*

The Chrome and Edge monitors have been updated to the latest stable versions of Chrome (133.0.6943.53) and Edge (132.0.2957.140). This upgrade ensures that our testing capabilities remain robust and relevant, reflecting the most current web environment experience.

Script Templates

You can now create Script Templates for both Playwright and Puppeteer in the Script Library.

All configuration options when creating a new Script Template for Playwright and Puppeteer will be the same as a Transaction Script Template, except for the Test Monitor option. Playwright Script Templates will have Chrome and Edge monitor options, and Puppeteer will use Chrome.

Cookie Override*

The Cookie Override feature allows you to customize and override default cookie settings during a test run. This capability is particularly useful for scenarios where specific user sessions or preferences need to be simulated, ensuring that tests accurately reflect real-world conditions. By providing precise control over cookie data, this feature enhances the reliability of test results and enables more detailed performance analysis.

Visually Complete Metric*

The Visually Complete metric is now supported. This important metric represents the time it takes for the visual elements of a web page to fully load and become visible to the user, providing a key representation of the user experience. This helps identify bottlenecks in the rendering process and offers insights for enhancing page load times, making it an invaluable tool for performance testing and analysis.

Enforce QUIC using Custom Headers*

By using the new custom header Cp-QuicForcedOrigins, you can specify domains to force HTTP3. This ensures that the specified domains use HTTP3, enhancing the accuracy of performance monitoring. If HTTP3 is unavailable, the domains will fall back to the next available protocol.

*Note: These changes are dependent on Agent release

Tracing Updates

Alert Pausing

Tracing Alerts now support pausing of individual alerts for a specified timeframe. This allows you to manage and control alert notifications more effectively and reduces redundant alerts while you are working on resolving an issue.

Custom View of System Map

You can now customize the view of the system map in the Tracing Overview Dashboard by moving the nodes in cluster view. This allows you to retain the customized view of the system map for a tailored monitoring experience.

Trace Map in Synthetic Records

You can now view the trace map and trace chart for synthetic tests within the Records page. This enhancement provides a more comprehensive understanding of synthetic test outcomes and their associated traces, enabling you to directly associate users’ digital experience with application performance. With our OpenTelemetry-based tracing solution, any traces generated from synthetic test runs (referred to as synthetic traces) are provided at no additional cost.

BGP Private Peers

The new BGP Private Peers feature allows organizations to access routing information for their private networks alongside publicly available network routes. By setting up a private BGP peer, you can see route availability and network peering both inside and outside of your network, ensuring end-to-end reachability and maintaining a seamless digital experience. REST API Updates

Pagination for Favorite Chart Endpoints

Favorite chart analytics data results are now paginated for all REST API 2 endpoints.
When partial results are returned by the API, the HasMore property will be set to true so that you can retrieve additional pages to get all the information.

Test Conversion Endpoint

Users can now convert test types via Rest API using the POST /v3.5/tests/testconvert endpoint. This is applicable to Web, API, Playwright, and Puppeteer test types.

Endpoint Tests and Alerts

The REST API now supports retrieval of individual Endpoint Tests and Alerts by ID, and all Tests/Alerts for a specific division or client, providing comprehensive monitoring and management capabilities.

Additional Features

  • The new Data Transfer Time metric measures the time it takes to transfer data after establishing an HTTP connection. This is calculated as the sum of Wait and Load times.
  • The Utilization tab on the Node Details page has been updated to display tests by category, including Browser, Emulated, HTTP/Ping/Port, Traceroute & Others.

Bug Fixes

  • Addressed an infrequent issue where the API test did not adhere to the designated test timeout.
  • Resolved an issue where the TTI metric was occasionally not captured in Playwright scripts.
  • Fixed an intermittent issue with Playwright test recording DNS time as 0.

Catchpoint Agent Release

Some of the features in the release (where noted) require the latest version of the Catchpoint Agent to be running on the selected Node. The Catchpoint Agent rollout involves two dimensions:

  • Public Nodes managed by Catchpoint: Agent rollout on public nodes takes place in stages following each release. Agent release announcements are posted here: https://nodestatus.catchpoint.com.
  • Private Enterprise Nodes managed by customers: Customers can upgrade Enterprise Nodes any time at their convenience. We advise customers to upgrade Enterprise nodes promptly after each release to benefit from the new feature functionality.
  • Instructions for upgrading Enterprise nodes can be found in the help documentation.
