RUM Updates

Mobile RUM – Preview

In our last release, Eclipse, we launched the first version of Mobile RUM, which enables you to monitor the performance of Android apps and report the raw data using customizable charts in Explorer. In Glimmer, Mobile RUM now supports iOS as well. We have also added Records, enabling you to view the full details of every user session, including the screens viewed, interactions made in the app, network request waterfalls, crashes, and errors.

Composite Alerts

We are pleased to introduce Composite Alerts for synthetic tests. This new feature lets you receive a single alert notification based on the triggering of multiple individual alerts, providing more informative notifications with reduced noise. Composite Alerts are available at the product, folder, and test levels, facilitating better management of critical issues. You can configure Composite Alerts in the Library under Control Center.

Voice Call Notifications

When configuring an alert, you can now select voice notification in addition to the existing SMS and email options. When an alert is triggered and the voice option is selected, the system will initiate an automated voice call to the user's phone number with alert details.

Tracing

Smartboard for non-web services

We are excited to announce a new capability in Smartboard that allows you to monitor the performance and impact of non-web services such as background tasks, message queue processing, or scheduled jobs. With this latest update, you can now:

  • Easily monitor metrics impacting the performance of non-web services. This feature provides a comprehensive view of the performance data, helping you identify and address any issues promptly.

  • Select the non-web service from the source blade to view its performance metrics. This integration ensures a seamless experience when navigating through different services.

  • Access the performance metrics of non-web services by navigating from the Overview Dashboard. This provides a quick and efficient way to monitor the health and performance of your services.

This enhancement is designed to provide you with deeper insights into the performance of your non-web services, enabling you to make informed decisions and improve overall service quality.

Updates to Tracing Smartboard

It can be difficult to spot important trends in your data without the right visualization. To help with this, we are introducing a heatmap in the Tracing Smartboard, which visualizes the distribution of transaction times over the selected timeframe. This feature allows you to:

  • See a clear visual representation of transaction times, making it easier to identify patterns and anomalies.
  • Click on any data block within the heatmap to apply the transaction time range as a filter. This will allow you to view all data related to the selected transaction time range.

The heatmap is available for both web and non-web service Smartboards.

New Maintenance and Run Schedule Options

The Schedules page has been redesigned, offering a fresh and intuitive user experience. One of the key changes is the ability to set custom timeframes for recurring schedules, providing greater flexibility and control. Please note that as part of this update, REST API v2 and v3 endpoints for schedules will be removed, however you can manage schedules via the new REST API v4 preview.

WebPageTest

Custom Headers
WebPageTest scheduled tests now support setting custom headers for each URL being tested. This enhancement allows for more precise and tailored performance evaluations.

DNS Test: Support for HTTPS & SVCB Record Types*

The SVCB (Service Binding) and HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure) DNS record types serve several important purposes related to how services are discovered and connections established on the internet. We are happy to announce that we have added support for these record types to our DNS test.

Note: These changes are dependent on the Agent release

REST API Updates

REST API v4 Preview is now the latest version available.

  • All schedule-related endpoints must use the new REST API v4

Additional Features

  • SLO monitoring now lets you set a target availability of up to 99.999% (that’s five 9s!), providing enhanced precision.
  • Tracing association is now supported for Playwright & Puppeteer Tests.
  • Kerberos authentication is now supported for Playwright and Puppeteer tests, enhancing security and compatibility with enterprise environments.*

Note: This changes is dependent on Agent release.

Bug Fixes

  • Dramatically improved Node-to-Node Smartboard loading time by adjusting the amount of aggregated data represented.

  • Fixed case where the Endpoint Monitoring client software had installation and auto update errors on Mac.

  • Corrected geo-location for some mis-mapped IPs in traceroute tests.

  • Fixed issue where Throughput wasn't calculated correctly when breaking down data by Test in Explorer.

  • Resolved a problem in Sonar where the incident blade reported different values after being closed and reopened.

  • Corrected an issue where the Cache TLD Nameserver Queries setting wasn’t being honored.

Catchpoint Agent Release

Some of the features in the release (where noted) require the latest version of the Catchpoint Agent to be running on the selected Node. The Catchpoint Agent rollout involves two dimensions:

Public Nodes managed by Catchpoint: Agent rollout on public nodes takes place in stages following each release. Agent release announcements are posted here: https://nodestatus.catchpoint.com.

Private Enterprise Nodes managed by customers: Customers can upgrade Enterprise Nodes any time at their convenience. We advise customers to upgrade Enterprise nodes promptly after each release to benefit from the new feature functionality.

Instructions for upgrading Enterprise nodes can be found in the help documentation.
