Catchpoint's Web monitors automatically collect a variety of metrics and metadata during each test-run, but in some cases there could be important information that isn't captured by default. The Insight feature allows you to define additional items for Catchpoint to extract when parsing the HTTP response. Insight data can be analyzed alongside the standard metrics in Explorer and Records.
There are two types of Insights you can configure: Tracepoints and Indicators.
Tracepoints are string-formatted metadata items that provide additional detail about the test response. For example, your application might include the name of the specific web server that responded to each request in the HTTP response. If you want your Catchpoint tests to extract this information, then you could define an Insight Tracepoint to look for the server name when parsing the response.
Indicators are numerical data points representing a measurement or quantity of something. For example, you could configure an Indicator to collect the average number of requests per second received by the server. Like Tracepoints, Indicators are parsed from the HTTP response.
Insights are defined at the client-level and enabled for Products, Folders or Tests in the Tests module. Once data is collected, you can examine it alongside Catchpoint's standard measurements in Explorer and Records.
