Orchestra is Catchpoint's proprietary NoSQL time-series database for storing performance data. Catchpoint has two distinct varieties of Orchestra - one for Synthetic and one for RUM. Most customers share space in Orchestra backends, but a customer may be assigned a dedicated Orchestra, which is not shared. There are several benefits to using a dedicated Orchestra:
- Increased API call limits : A dedicated Orchestra can process more API calls within a given timeframe, so API limits are increased. This is largely due to load distribution across servers.
The API limits with purchase of a dedicated Orchestra are as below.
- API v1 - (30/minute, 1500/hour, 30,000/day)
- API v2 - (90/minute, 3000/hour, 40,000/day)
-
Longer data storage - 3 years by default. (Can be increased to 5 years upon request)
-
Full isolation of customer data: When using a dedicated orchestra, your data is housed in its own partition, improving data security.
-
Option to destroy data: Deleted data can potentially be recovered, whereas destroyed data cannot. This option is particularly beneficial for confidential information.
-
Higher Dashboard limits (up to 250 dashboards): Dashboards consume significant amounts of memory, as large amounts of data must be fetched from various sources (errors, alerts, test data, etc..) A dedicated Orchestra provides more memory space, thus enabling support for more Dashboards.
-
Dedicated analytics system: Removes security and performance risks of a shared analytics backend system.
-
Increased Insight limits (up to 30 Tracepoints and 30 Indicators)
-
Increased Index limit (up to 30 Indexes)
