Alert emails contain important information explaining why each alert was triggered. You can add custom instructions for the recipient(s) and you can modify the subject line to include pertinent details, such as the severity of the alert.
Alert email messages include the following sections:
- Subject: This is the subject line of the email message. You can configure the subject to include a combination of fixed text and macros which will be replaced with values specific to the triggering event. Learn about Macros.
- Instructions: This optional section contains your customized message to the alert recipient(s). If you choose to configure this section, it will appear first in the email message body.
- Debug Data: This section is included if Debug Hosts on Failure is enabled, and includes the results of the debug tests (ping, traceroute, and/or DNS traversal, depending on the test type)
- Alert Summary: This section provides a summary of the test and alert configurations. It includes:
- Test name [test ID]
- Test URL
- Test type and monitor type
- Report and Alert times in local time
- Trigger conditions and thresholds
- Links to performance, scatterplot and waterfall charts
- Alert Details: This section provides detailed information about the event that triggered the alert. It includes:
- Nodes affected
- Trigger value (if any) and # of runs triggered on
- Error message(s) and code(s)
- Host IP (if applicable)
- Screenshot (if applicable)
- Expected # of runs within a window
- Analysis: This section shows performance chart data (spanning 60 minutes) from nodes which triggered the alert
- Further Information: This section provides additional information about the test location and trigger times, including:
- Client Name [Client ID]
- Report and Alert times in UTC
- Initial trigger in local time and UTC
