Catchpoint's Endpoints Smartboard helps you quickly identify the cause of performance issues related to specific Endpoint devices. When you receive an alert or see concerning test results in your Endpoint Dashboards, a good first troubleshooting step is to view the corresponding Smartboard, locate the issue in the timeline, and then use the filters and visualization tools to see if you can narrow down the potential causes of the issue.

Let's look closer at each of the sections in the Endpoints Smartboard.

Source

This is the specific Endpoint device whose data is being rendered in the Smartboard. You can change the source by clicking on the Source button in the upper left, then selecting the desired data source. When you make a selection, the Smartboard refreshes all sections with data from the new source.

Timeline

The Endpoints Smartboard begins with an interactive timeline at the top of the page. This timeline plots a line graph representing Experience Score (%). The timeline helps you spot trends in overall Endpoint performance.

Time Window Selection

All graphs and tables displayed in the Smartboard are generated using data from within your selected time window. You can select a different time window by clicking the timeframe selection dropdown at the top left and selecting the desired timeframe, or by moving/resizing the timeframe window on the timeline. When you make a new selection, all of the other sections refresh with data from the new time window.

Endpoints Smartboard Pages

The Endpoints Smartboard includes four main pages, which can be navigated using the tabs at the top of the screen.

Overview

The Overview page provides a quick summary of Endpoint performance.

Key Metrics

In this section, view key performance metrics in simple line graphs, including the following:

  • Experience Score: See the individual scores that are used to calculate the Endpoint's Experience Score.
  • Endpoint: see trends in the endpoint's CPU and Memory utilization
  • Router: see the signal strength and quality of the Endpoint's wifi connection.
  • App: See how your Employee Apps are performing for this Endpoint.

Events and Issues

This section on the right lists key events, such as the device coming online, and issues such as test errors or hardware over-utilization.

This page focuses on the hardware performance of the Endpoint Device itself and its wifi connection.

Endpoint Score Cards

This is a set of tiles displaying the Endpoint Score, and the individual performance metrics that contribute to that score.

Hardware Usage Graphs

Here you can see timelines of CPU and Memory utilization, as well as wifi strength and quality. The dropdown at the upper right lets you see performance by individual process.

Processes List

This is a sortable list of processes that ran on the Endpoint during the selected timeframe. You can view the processes by average or peak resource utilization.

Network Page

This page focuses on the performance characteristics of the Endpoint's network connection.

Network Score Cards

This is a set of tiles displaying the Network Score, and the individual performance metrics that contribute to that score.

Domains Table

This table breaks down Endpoint performance by each domain that it connected to during the selected timeframe.

Location Table

This table breaks down Endpoint performance by location where the Endpoint was connected to your network.

Network Path Graph

This graph shows the traceroute paths that the Endpoint took to connect to each employee app, helping you identify routing issues or network performance bottlenecks.

Application Page

This page focuses on the performance of Employee Apps and Endpoint Tests run from the Endpoint, giving you a comprehensive view of how applications are performing for this employee.

Application Score Cards

This is a set of tiles displaying the Application Score, and the individual performance metrics that contribute to that score.

Applications Visited Table

This table shows you which monitored applications (Employee Apps) the employee visited during the selected timeframe, and how each performed.

URLs Tested Table

This table shows you what URLs were automatically tested via scheduled Endpont Tests, and how each one performed.

Failure / Run
Calculation:
totalFailuresPercentage = (destinationFailureCount * 100) / totalRuns
Conditions:
If totalFailuresPercentage is between 1% and 5% → Degraded (Orange bar)
If totalFailuresPercentage is greater than 5% → Critical (Red bar)

Round Trip
Conditions:
If RoundTripMSec is between 50 ms and 100 ms → Degraded (Orange bar)
If RoundTripMSec is greater than 100 ms → Critical (Red bar)

% Packet Loss
Calculation:
packetLossPercentage = (failedPackets * 100) / totalPackets
Conditions:
If packetLossPercentage is between 1% and 5% → Degraded (Orange bar)
If packetLossPercentage is greater than 5% → Critical (Red bar)
