Tracing Alerts

Catchpoint Tracing supports robust Alerts to help you promptly detect any performance issues in your Systems. Alerts can be configured at the System level, or for an individual Service.

Configuring Tracing Alerts

  • Navigate to Control Center > Tracing > System or Service
  • Select the System or Service that you want to configure alerts for
  • Under Alert, click Alerts Enabled
  • Complete the Alert Delivery section, which specifies where alerts will be sent.
    • Recipients - a list of individuals to receive alerts via email by default. You can choose from the list of configured Contacts, or simply enter email address(es). (You can also specify Recipients at the individual alert level. See next section)
    • Subject - specifies the Subject of the generated alert emails. This field supports Macros for variable content.
    • API Endpoints - optionally, you can also send alerts to any preconfigured Alert Webhooks.
  • Click Add Alert and complete the configuration options using the steps in the following sections. You can add multiple alerts with different settings as per your use case.

Alert Settings

When configuring an alert, you must first specify the Alert Type by making a selection under All Alerts

  • Response Time - the alert will be triggered based on the Response Time (ms) metric for the System or Service
  • Score - the alert will be triggered based on the Score metric for the System or Service
  • Request - the alert will be triggered based on the number of Requests generated by the System or Service
  • Error - the alert will be triggered based on the number of Errors experienced by the System or Service

After selecting the Alert Type, complete the alert configuration fields.

  • Warning Threshold - specify the mathematical comparison and threshold value for a Warning alert.
  • Critical Threshold - specify the mathematical comparison and threshold value for a Critical alert.
  • Condition (for System Response Time alerts only) - specify the number of individual Services that must pass a configured Response Time threshold to generate an alert. (e.g. if this is set to 3, but only 2 Services exceed the threshold, then no alert would be generated.)
  • Timeframe- specify the timeframe to check for System/Service performance.
  • Reminders - specify how frequently reminder alerts should be sent for previously-triggered alerts that have not yet resolved.
  • Notification Settings - specify what destination(s) this alet will be sent to
    • Recipients - configure one or more Notification Groups to send this alert to, in addition to Default Recipients if selected
    • Default Recipients Only - Send only to the default recipients configured in the previous Alert Delivery section
    • Do Not Alert, Log Only - no alert message will be sent, but alert will be logged in the system
