Internet Sonar monitors services and networks using data from multiple sources:
Vendor status page updates
Anonymized data from Catchpoint users' tests
User test data are aggregated and analyzed to determine when services and networks are experiencing issues. This data includes SaaS portal logins and user flows, CDN asset delivery, DNS resolutions, traceroute tests, as well as data from any other tests customers can configure. Using data from all test types enables us to detect problems with various functions of services from a diverse set of networks, going beyond merely testing home pages (for example.)
Dedicated tests configured and managed by Catchpoint
These tests specifically monitor services and networks for their primary functions. For example, we maintain dedicated cloud services and applications in all cloud regions for every major cloud provider to ensure all products within each cloud are comprehensively monitored. We also test dedicated assets on each CDN, run DNS experience tests for all major DNS providers, test call infrastructure for UCaSS providers, and test specific functionality for various SaaS services such as file hosting in products like OneDrive and iCloud.
