Test Access Restriction

Prev Next

You may have users that you want to be able to access only specific tests. Catchpoint supports this scenario via the Test Access setting. The purpose of this feature is to limit a user to accessing only a subset of tests within a client/division. The user will not be able to create any tests and will only be able to see the information for the specified Products or Tests.

Note

The Test Access option must be provisioned by Catchpoint for your account. If there is a need to use this feature, please contact Catchpoint Support or your Customer Success Manager to have it enabled.

Once enabled, you will see the Test Access option in each Contact's properties. Follow these steps to configure Test Access for a user:

  1. Log into the Catchpoint Portal and navigate to Contacts
  2. Select a contact to open their properties page
  3. Locate Test Access and change the setting from All to Product or Test
    • If you select Product then the user will only be able to create/modify tests within the assigned Products (assuming their user role allows this). If desired you can enable view all tests which would allow them to also view, but not modify, all other tests in the client or division.
  4. Select the product(s) or test(s) that you want this user to be able to access
  5. You may also want to create a Dashboard that only displays data from this user's tests, set this as their Primary Dashboard, and enable Do not display other dashboards. Otherwise the user might be able to view dashboards containing data from tests you have restricted.
  6. When all settings are complete, click Apply.

Note

Test Access settings determine which tests the user can access, but does not affect what actions they can take on those tests. That is determined by their User Role. If you want a user to be unable to create or modify tests, then be sure to set their user role to Client Restricted Observer, or another custom user role with those restrictions applied.

Restricted users will see the Alerts and Contacts menus but will be greeted with an "Access denied" message if they attempt to access these features. The Reports tab will not be shown.
