Prior to Catchpoint's August 2022 release, the "Response" metric was not calculated the same way for all test types, which made charting this metric for different test types together confusing. The "Base Response" metric was introduced as an alternative, but we have determined that a single, unified response metric is the simplest and most intuitive solution for our users. Therefore we removed Base Response and updated the Response metric to be calculated more consistently across all test types.
The Response metric for Web monitors will continue to be calculated as it has been in the past, representing the total time to load the base URL of a test run or step. It is calculated as follows:
Response = DNS + Connect + SSL + SEND + WAIT + LOAD
For all other monitors, Response Time is equivalent to Test Time. Any Widgets, Favorite Charts, and Quick Charts configured using Base Response before this change will continue to work as they did. If you need to edit them or creates new ones, you will no longer see Base Response as an option and should use Response moving forward.
