# Ping Testing on Web Tests and Alerts That Trigger Debug Options

Catchpoint Web Tests allow you to trigger debug options based on Ping alerts, if **Additional Monitor: Ping (ICMP)** is enabled in the **Advanced Settings**. A traceroute will be triggered if the ping alert thresholds have been met. In order to set this debug option, follow the steps below :

1. Edit the properties of the test, folder, or product.
2. If needed, select **Override** for the **Advanced Settings** section, then click **Add Advanced Settings**
3. Select **Debug Primary Host On Failure**, **Debug Referenced Hosts on Failure**, and **Additional Monitor** then click **Apply**.
4. Make sure the **Additional Monitor** selection is **Ping (ICMP)**.
5. If needed, select **Override** for the **Alerts** section and add desired **Recipients** and **Subject**, then click **Add Alert**.
6. Under **All Alerts > Ping**, select **Ping RTT (Round Trip Time)**
7. Under **Trigger**, select **Specific Value**
8. Put in the number of milliseconds for the **warning** and **critical** thresholds.
9. Under **Conditions**, select **Runs**.
10. Type in either the number of runs or percentage of runs that must exceed a threshold in to trigger an alert.
11. Click **Apply** to save the alert.

Completing these steps will present a traceroute on the test whenever the time to complete the Ping test passes the warning time threshold.
