A Catchpoint Enterprise Node is a solution that allows companies to perform tests from locations within their organization. Companies typically deploy Enterprise Nodes as physical or virtual appliances in their data centers, branch offices, call centers, or brick-and-mortar stores. This is very useful for understanding exactly how your internal network impacts application performance, and for testing internal systems that may not be accessible from external public nodes.
Enterprise Nodes provide the same capabilities and are managed via the same SaaS portal as public nodes, relying on the same SaaS service for scheduling, reporting, and alerting.
Enterprise Node Editions
Catchpoint offers two editions of the Enterprise Node Software: Standard and Light:
Standard
This variety supports the full set of test types that may be run on Catchpoint's public nodes. The software is feature-rich and works for many use cases ranging from network monitoring to browser-based transaction testing. It has a larger footprint in terms of memory and resources utilized, so it is not recommended for use on smaller form factors or shared hardware, such as switches and other network infrastructure.
Light
This version supports a smaller subset of Catchpoint's features and test types, including protocol-level tests such as Traceroute, Ping, and Web Object, where the primary use-case is network monitoring. Its smaller footprint and reduced resource utilization makes it easy to deploy in a wide range of environments, including smaller hardware form factors and network infrastructure like routers and switches.
Enterprise Node Deployment Options
The Enterprise Node software may be deployed in the following ways:
Physical Appliance
The Enterprise Node software runs on dedicated hardware provided by Catchpoint. This hardware is tuned and optimized specifically for Enterprise Node, and is designed to be "plug-and-play".
Container
The Node is provided as a downloadable Docker container which has the node software preinstalled and configured by Catchpoint. Enterprise Node Deployment using Docker
Software Installer
The Enterprise node software is provided via a standard installer. You may install the Enterprise Node software on a supported physical or virtual machine of your choosing, and all configuration steps must be completed after installation. Enterprise Node Installation
Supported Platforms
The following platforms are supported for Enterprise Node deployment:
| Platform | Standard | Light |
|---|---|---|
| Architecture | Intel | Intel, ARM |
| Docker Container | Yes | Yes |
| RPM (RHEL8, OL8, AL2 RPM) | Yes | No |
| Virtual Appliance | Yes | No |
Enterprise nodes can also run on Cisco hardware such as the Cisco 8000 and 9000 series.
Enterprise (Pt) Node
Like Enterprise Nodes, Enterprise (Pt) Node allows companies to perform tests from locations within their organization, datacenter, offices, brick-and-motor locations, etc. However, rather than paying a monthly fee for unlimited testing, the Enterprise (Pt) Node consumes points from your account, allowing you to pay as you go.
