Chrome Monitor - How New Versions get Added

Prev Next

This article details how Catchpoint updates our Chrome Monitor to add new versions of Chrome for our users to test from in Web and Transaction tests.

When Google releases a new Chrome monitor, Engineering will get the latest version, and do the initial work to enable chrome to work with Synthetic Agent. Once this is done, our testing team will do extensive testing to verify if the version of Chrome has any issues with our current use cases. Due to the amount of regression testing that takes place, this process takes time.

Therefore, we do not evaluate every version of Chrome that comes out.

Ideally, we aim to add the latest Chrome version each quarter; however, depending on our testing and real world factors, we may release once every 6 months.

Note: in versions of Chrome that can drastically impact our application, and it is out of our control to fix it, we will wait for a new version of Chrome that addresses what originally impacted our application.
