Overview

Catchpoint gives users the ability to run tests using the Chrome version of their choice. These tests include Web tests, HTML tests, Playwright tests, and Puppeteer tests.

Available versions are:

  • Stable (default): The most recent version of Chrome that Catchpoint fully supports
  • Preview: The most recent version of Chrome currently being tested for compatibility with Catchpoint
  • Specific: A specified version of Chrome to be used for test runs (Ex: 75 or 108)

Stable and Preview versions will be updated as new versions are tested and supported by Catchpoint. For example, if you choose to run Stable (89), and later Catchpoint completes testing version 97 and marks that as our Stable version, then your test will automatically begin running Stable (97). If instead of choosing Stable (89), you simply choose option "89", that version will continue to be used until you change it, or until it is eventually unsupported on our nodes.

The full Chrome version that ran on a particular test run (Ex. Chrome (75.0.3770.90.1) can be seen in the test Records (see screenshot below).

Enterprise Node Requirements

This feature is also available on Enterprise nodes, provided the node has the latest agent installed. The available Chrome versions on a particular node can be found in the Node Properties under Instances as shown in the below screenshot.

If a node does not have selected Chrome version

Catchpoint strives to ensure that every node has all of the supported versions of Chrome installed. If a specific version is selected for a test, and that version is not available on a targeted node, the test will not run on that node.

However, if you choose Stable or Preview, and that version is not available on a targeted node, the test will fail over to the latest version of Chrome that is available on the node.
