Catchpoint's Endpoint Tests Smartboard help you quickly identify the cause of performance issues related to your active Endpoint Tests. When you receive an alert or see concerning test results in your Endpoint Dashboards, a good first troubleshooting step is to view the corresponding Smartboard, locate the issue in the timeline, and then use the filters and visualization tools to see if you can narrow down the potential causes of the issue.
Let's look closer at each of the sections in the Endpoint Tests Smartboard.
Source
This is the specific Endpoint Test whose data is being rendered in the Smartboard. You can change the source by clicking on the Source button in the upper left, then selecting the desired data source. When you make a selection, the Smartboard refreshes all sections with data from the new source.

Timeline
The Endpoint Tests Smartboard begins with an interactive timeline at the top of the page. This timeline plots a line graph representing test performance. The exact metric represented on the timeline depends on the test type you are analyzing. For Ping and Web tests, it is Test Time (ms). For Traceroute tests, it is Round Trip (ms). For the Bandwidth test, this line represents Download (Mbps).

Time Window Selection
All graphs and tables displayed in the Endpoint Tests Smartboard are generated using data from within your selected time window (last three days by default.) You can select a different time window by clicking the field at the top left and selecting the desired timeframe, or by clicking and dragging the vertical blue bars in the Timeline to the desired starting and ending times. When you make a new selection, all of the other sections refresh with data from the new time window.

Prior Time Comparison
The timeline displays two different graphs - one representing test data from the selected time window (dark blue line), and, for comparison, another representing test data from a prior time period (light blue shaded line).

The Comparison time is either one day prior or one week prior to the selected timeframe. For example, if you are viewing June 30 from noon to 1pm, and your comparison time is 1 week prior, then the shaded region would represent June 23 from noon to 1pm.)
You can change the comparison time in the Compare dropdown menu above the timeline. After making a selection, click Go to refresh the timeline.

Filters
You can access filters by clicking the blue Filters button below the timeline.

This opens the Filters blade. You can apply multiple filters, and for each one you can choose whether to include or exclude the selected items. You can see all of the filters you have set up by clicking Selected.

Smartboard Sections
The rest of the Endpoints Smartboard is divided into two sections which you can select by clicking the desired option immediately below the timeline.

Key Metrics

This is set of tiles displaying key performance metrics averaged across the selected time window. Each tile also displays the percentage difference between this time period and the comparison time. The Metrics displayed will vary depending on Test type. For Web tests you will see the following:
- Application Score - The composite application score which combines multiple factors to provide a high-level summary of application performance.
- Test Time (ms) - The average overall test time across endpoints during the selected timeframe.
- Failures - The number of Endpoint Test failures during the selected timeframe.
- Test Runs - The number of Endpoint Test runs executed during the selected timeframe.
- Endpoints Tested - The number of unique Endpoint devices that executed at least one Endpoint Test during the selected timeframe.
- Locations Tested - The number of unique locations from which at least one Endpoint Test was run during the selected timeframe.
Scatterplot

A timeline displaying each Endpoint Test run as a separate dot. Test runs that resulted in a failure are represented with a red diamond. You can select which metric to plot, and how to break the data down. You can also hover over any individual test run to see more details.

Endpoints Table
This table lists all Test Runs that occurred during the selected timeframe, with option to sort by Endpoint Name, Time, Application Score, Test Time (ms), City, and ISP.
