It is with pride that we announce our latest release, Lion, continuing our theme of fast cats. Although not the fastest of the big cats, lions more than make up for this with their powerful build and pack hunting tactics. Female lions are up to 30% faster than males and do most of the hunting.
New Redesigned RUM Smartboard - Preview
We are excited to introduce the newly redesigned RUM Smartboard, available for preview now!

With this new design, all relevant RUM performance data is presented in a single view, providing comprehensive insight into your application’s performance, and highlighting any potential issues to expedite troubleshooting. Here are a few key benefits of the new RUM Smartboard:
Quickly pinpoint the root cause of any issues by correlating performance data with user behavior
Understand which features or pages are most frequently accessed, and how usage patterns impact performance
Measure the impact of planned changes by comparing performance data from before and after
To access the new RUM Smartboard, simply navigate to the existing Smartboard, select a RUM App as the data source, and click on the “Preview New Version” switch located at the upper right corner of the screen.

We are committed to continuously improving our products and would love to receive any feedback you may have. Stay tuned for more new functionality coming to the RUM Smartboard soon!

RUM JavaScript Tag
We are introducing a new streamlined approach to integrating your webpages with RUM via JSP 4.0.0. The tag has been simplified to a one-script block for improved performance and flexibility. This provides a more efficient and reliable method of collecting metrics, and greatly simplifies the implementation process.
Internet Sonar - Enhancements
This release introduces several major improvements to Internet Sonar for reporting the details of service and network incidents:
- Filter options now let you show outages in only those services included in a specified Stack Map.
- The entire page now remains interactive when viewing the new Incident Detail sidebar, enabling you to use other functions like timeline, map, and network visualization without closing the sidebar.
- The Incident Detail sidebar now includes more information for service outages, including IPs and domains affected.
- The Timeline now includes dimensions for filtered/selected incidents and separation of service and network incidents.

Stack Map (GA)
We are happy to announce that Stack Map is now generally available to all clients who have purchased Internet Sonar.
With Catchpoint’s Stack Map, you can create custom topological maps of your services and dependencies across the Internet Stack. The simple, intuitive interface provides real-time status updates so you can quickly see when issues in any service or layer are impacting performance, helping you to quickly diagnose issues and slash MTTI and MTTR.
Create as many Stack Maps as you have services or applications and get a whole new view of service performance.
Please fill out this form if you would like to tryout Stack Map

Web Page Instant Test (GA)
We are pleased to announce that Catchpoint's Web Page Instant Test is now generally available (GA), and includes new test location options. With Web Page Instant Test, you can access detailed webpage performance analytics, including Lighthouse scores and compare test results and track performance changes over time. We are continuously enhancing this tool to help maximize your website’s performance and deliver an exceptional user experience

Instant Test Traceroute Update
The Instant Tests feature enables you to perform one-off Node-based or Endpoint-based tests instantly. Whether you just need to collect current data or troubleshoot an issue, Instant Tests lets you get results fast.
The Traceroute Instant Test now includes all the enhancements we’ve recently made to scheduled Traceroute tests. These include the ability to capture Path MTU, TCP MSS, DSCP, and ECN across the network. The updated UI displays all these new metrics in an improved hop-by-hop graph.
Note: This feature is dependent on Agent release.

Playwright and Puppeteer (GA)
Playwright and Puppeteer are modern, open-source tools for advanced browser automation and testing. Their ease of use, ability to handle complex web interactions, and active community support make them a more future-proof choice when seeking reliable and up-to-date testing solutions. In this release, the following are now available for Playwright and Puppeteer tests:
- Chrome version 123
- Zone Data and Third-Party Zone Data
- Bandwidth Throttling
Note: This feature is dependent on the Agent release.
Auto-Populate Step Name in Alert Rules
When creating an alert for any script-based test, such as Transaction, API, Playwright, and Puppeteer, you can now select the step you would like to alert on from a dropdown list, rather than having to type it in manually.
Highlight Web Vitals in Filmstrip
Filmstrip provides a visual representation of the loading process of your webpage, capturing a series of images that show what each moment looks like to the user. Now, whenever Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) and First Contentful Paint (FCP) occur during this loading process, the corresponding frame in the filmstrip will be highlighted. This provides a more intuitive way to understand the impact of different loading events on these web vitals. The exact moment of a web vital event may not always align perfectly with a captured frame in the filmstrip; in such cases, the next captured frame after the web vital is measured will be highlighted.

Additional Performance Metrics for SLOs
SLO Monitoring enables you to define performance objectives and apply them to your tests so that you can easily track whether your services are meeting the objectives defined in your SLA.
Most Service Level Objectives (SLOs) are based on Availability. Availability is important, but “slow is the new down”, and good user experience also relies on performance. There are several performance metrics that enable you to create user experience-based SLOs (also known as XLOs), like Core Web Vitals.
Based on this, and great customer feedback, we have added the following performance metrics for SLO monitoring:
- DNS
- Wait
- Response
- First Contentful Paint
- Largest Contentful Paint
- Cumulative Layout Shift
- Time to Interactive

REST API v2 Updates
We have added the following capabilities to REST API v2 and v3, expanding the possibilities for your automations with Catchpoint.
- Create Favorite Chart for Synthetic Tests
- Delete Favorite Chart for Synthetic Tests
- Updated multiple endpoints with ‘Has More’ element
- Updated Product, Folder, and Test endpoints to dynamically include node groups
- Updated Alert endpoints to include step name
Additional Features
Records Page: The number of requests shown has been increased from 2000 to 2500
Catchpoint Agent Release
Some of the features in the release (where noted) require the latest version of the Catchpoint Agent to be running on the selected Node. The Catchpoint Agent rollout involves two dimensions:
-
Public Nodes managed by Catchpoint: Agent rollout on public nodes takes place in stages following each release. Agent release announcements are posted here: https://nodestatus.catchpoint.com.
-
Private Enterprise Nodes managed by customers: Customers can upgrade Enterprise Nodes any time at their convenience. We advise customers to upgrade Enterprise nodes promptly after each release to benefit from the new feature functionality. Instructions for upgrading Enterprise nodes can be found here.
